Facial Piercings

Under guidance provided by Argyll and Bute Council, pupils must not wear any kind of facial piercings to school. If parents allow their child to have facial piercings, they need to remember that there is no exception to this rule for the period of time when the jewellery inserted in the piercing has to remain in place.

Feeling ill

Pupils who feel unwell in the course of the day should go to the school office. They will be looked after in the school's medical room until they can be collected by a parent, or are well enough to go back to class. It has been known for pupils to phone home to say they are feeling ill and for parents to come for them, or even to send a taxi for them, without telling the school! This must not happen. If a pupil phones home to say he or she is feeling ill, the parent should tell him or her to go to the school office for attention.

First Aid

Members of the office staff have been trained to provide First Aid services to pupils. A pupil requiring first aid should go to the school office for help. If necessary, the pupil will be taken to the local hospital and the parent contacted.

Footwear

Plain black shoes are the correct footwear with the school uniform. Please do not send your child in trainers, boots or other fashion footwear. Trainers are required for PE, but should be worn only in the PE class, not for the entire day on which the pupil has PE.

Free Meals

Children of parents who receive income support or income-based job-seekers allowances are entitled to a free mid-day meal. Application forms are available from the school office. Those receiving free meals use their Young Scot card to pay for them exactly like every other pupil. The card is credited automatically with the value of each day’s free meal. The pupil can put extra money into the card using the ‘top-up’ machines in the normal way.
