Business Education
The department consists of two members of staff - Elaine McGeachy, Principal Teacher and Mrs Louise Hallas.
In the modern world it is vitally important for pupils to have excellent ICT skills as the vast majority of CGS pupils will need these skills in their future whether that be in further education or the workplace.
The department offers 2 different subjects from S3 to S6. Administration is offered at Intermediate 1 and 2 and Higher and Advanced Higher in S5-6. This course is very practical with pupils learning how to use Microsoft Office application in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Powerpoint and Databases as well as extensive use of internet and email. The Second subject is Business Management which is offered at Standard Grade in S3-4 and Higher in S5-6. This subject looks at how modern businesses are run and organised and problems which they could face in the future.
The department is also responsible for S1 Information Technology which includes Text Handling, Spreadsheets and Introduction to the Network and the Internet. Staff from the department also teach the S2 Information Technology course.
