There are 7 teachers in the Science Department:
Mr N McKnight (Head of Science) – Chemistry, Biology
Mr G Walker – Chemistry
Mr J Watson – Chemistry, Physics
Mr J Anderson – Physics
Mr D Haggarty – Biology
Miss J McLaughlin – Biology
Mr S Gallagher – Biology
In S1–S2 we teach a course consisting of a number of Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics.
In S3–S4 we offer Standard Grade Biology, Chemistry and Physics and Access 3/Intermediate 1 Biology to pupils.
We also offer Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics to pupils in S5–S6.
All courses in S3 through to S6 have regular diagnostic tests which allow teachers to identify areas of weakness and help pupils perform to the best of their ability in SQA exams.
S1 and S2 pupils should be issued with one homework exercise every 2 weeks and all other levels at least once per week.
Mr Walker runs a Science club which meets regularly at lunch times for exciting demonstrations and an opportunity to try out some interesting experiments.
